Opting for the "20 and out" plan, Howard and Kip sold their 15 Burger King restaurants in Volusia and St. John's counties, and their 3 Woody's BBQ restaurants in 1995. He was an exemplary business man subscribing to a guiding principle that everyone should be treated fairly and with respect; restaurant guests, employees, and vendors alike. A long time Kiwanian, Howard also served his community as a board member of Easter Seals, and Halifax Hospital. He also was a board member of First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo)
An avid tennis player, he traded his racket for snow skis. Along with his wife Nancy and son Ian, he took up residence for most winters in Park City Utah. For those who knew him best, our enduring remembrance will be of his good natured-ness; a warm smile, and his soft spoken quiet personality that would often erupt in his dry wit. He was a true gentleman.
Howard leaves Nancy, his beloved wife of 20 years, his son Ian (Kacie), his sister Susan, stepdaughters Marisa D'Amico and Cara (Donnie) Bledsoe, and his grandson, Evan Bledsoe.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation be made in his name to Easter Seals of Daytona Beach, FL.
A Graveside Service will be held 10:00 am on Sunday, November 3, at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, followed by a meal of condolence/consolation reception at Temple Beth-El, 579 N Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174
